Can you guess what time it is? It is SONG TIME!
Forward down the field!
A charging team that will not yield!
When the Blue and Silver wave,
Stand and cheer the brave!
Rah! Rah! Rah!
Go hard, win the game!
With honor you will keep your fame!
Down the field and gain
A Lions Victory!
Go Lions!
The Lions today defeated the previously undefeated Atalanta Falcons, 17-10. Wow. Michael Vick, intercepted and sacked and all that good stuff. Our defense was so solid that I thought I was watching another team. I mean, the Falcons defense was pretty good too, it was a low scoring game, but the Lions D matched them. And this is with Dre Bly still injured and out, mind you. One thing I did note was that the Falcons did a very good job of shutting down Eddie Drummond on kickoff returns. If they hadn't done that, who knows, maybe the Lions would have won even more spectacularly.
Harrington made a lot of completions. They weren't particularly long or spectacular completions, but hey, whatever works. If we can chip away with some runs from Pinner and make some solid passes to Williams and Az Hakim, then we're making some progress. And if that, plus some killer defensive plays and a Jason Hanson field goal, is enough to defeat the Falcons, then I'd say we're in pretty good shape as a team.
I'd also just like to say that the Nonpoint remix of the Phil Collins song 'In the Air Tonight' that ESPN has been using when showing playoffs clips is starting to give me the shivers every time I hear it. Uh huh. Who's not excited for playoff baseball right now, eh?
Oh, and, you know. 19 straight wins for the New England Patriots! The NFL record! Sort of. I guess that technically the record only applies to regular season wins, while this 19-game-streak includes last years postseason. The Pats haven't won 19 straight regular season games yet, since they lost to, er, someone last year before the postseason started. I forget who. In any event, this is still pretty damn spectacular, and I am SO FRIKKING MAD that the Detroit CBS decided to NOT SHOW THE GAME in favor of some horrible ancient movie. Gah.
Also, the Emerald Nuts ads are great. Just... great.
